Last minute activity options for Thanksgiving week!

Here are just a few of the activities going on around the Edmond and Oklahoma City Metro area this week! If you can not find something to do, need some exercise, need a FREE meal or want to go shopping, here are some fun options!

November 24 & 25

  • The Jazz Rep. Combo 2 will perform at the UCO Jazz Lab at 7PM. Tickets are $10. For more information call #405-259-7989.

November 26

  • FREE day at the Oklahoma City Zoo (2000 Remington Pl) offers free admission to all Zoo guests in celebration of Thanksgiving. 9am-5pm. 424-3344,

November 27

  • You can volunteer to help or request a FREE lunch to be delivered by Memorial Road Church of Christ. Go to to for more information!
  • The Edmond Community Center will serve Thanksgiving lunch from 11AM-3PM at the UCO Ballroom in the Nigh University Center on UCO campus. The event is FREE!
  • Edmond Turkey Trot is one mile or a 5k in downtown Edmond. Go to for more information.
  • OKC Turkey Trot is at Stars & Stripes Park located at 3701 S Lake Hefner Drive.  There is a 5K and a Fun Run to benefit the Eagle Ridge Institute. Go to for for more information.

November 28-January 4

  • Edmond Outdoor Ice Skating Rink at Mitch Park for $8 a person from 12PM-10PM daily. Go to for more information.

FREE SandRidge Tree Lighting Festival at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark (2 S Mickey Mantle Dr) features live music, complimentary popcorn, cookies and face painting. Mayor Cornett will light the Bricktown Christmas tree for the season. Friday, 5-7pm. 235-3500,

FREE Holiday River Parade at the Boathouse District (725 S Lincoln Blvd) features a Christmas parade on the Oklahoma River. An appearance by Santa will be followed by a fireworks show. Friday, 6-8pm. 231-0912,

FREE Cowboy Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Stockyards City Main Street (1305 S Agnew) kicks off a whole weekend of holiday fun with a tree lighting, holiday music, candy for children and photos with Santa. Friday, 5:30pm; Satuday, 10am. 235-7267,

FREE Cleveland County Craft Show at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds (615 E Robinson St, Norman) features home decor, handmade and seasonal goods from more than 90 local crafters. Friday, 4-8pm; Saturday, 9am-4pm. 360-4721,

FREE Saturdays with Santa at Myriad Botanical Garden (301 W Reno) invites children into Santa’s Workshop to create a craft, write a letter to the North Pole, ride Devon’s Polar Express and hear live holiday music. Saturday, 10am-4pm. Also held Dec. 6, 13 & 20. 10am-4pm. 445-7080,

FREE Midwest City Holiday Lights Spectacular at Joe B Barnes Regional Park (8700 E. Reno Ave) features more than one million holiday lights and a 118-foot Christmas tree lit with 9,000 bulbs.  Sunday-Thursday, 6-10pm; Friday & Saturday, 6-11pm. 739-1293,

FREE Santa’s Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops (200 Bass Pro Dr) kicks off Nov 15 with giveaways, crafts and free photos with Santa. The daily event continues through Christmas Eve. Enjoy free photos with Santa weekdays, 3-8pm; Saturday, 10am-8pm; Sunday noon-5pm. 218-5200,

FREE Christmas in the Park at Chisholm Trail Park (500 W Vandament, Yukon) will be celebrated with a festive light display & Kris Kringle Karnival. Refreshments, live music, pictures with Santa and train rides. Christmas in the Park continues through Dec 31. Sunset-8pm. 350-8937,

FREE Chesapeake Energy Holiday Lights Display at Chesapeake Energy (NW 63rd & Western) features 4.3 million LED lights decorating eight blocks of landscape. Lit nightly from sunset to 7am.

FREE Water Taxi Rides at Bricktown Water Taxi (111 S Mickey Mantle Dr) are offered as part of Downtown in December. All ages welcome. Thursday-Sunday, 6-9:30pm. 218-1000,

Devon Ice Rink at Myriad Botanical Gardens (201 W Reno) offers ice skating through Downtown in December. $12 per person, includes skate rental. $8 for guests who bring their own skates. $8 per person for groups of 10 or more. Monday-Thursday, 3-9pm; Friday, 3-11pm; Saturday & Sunday,11am-7pm.

A Territorial Christmas Celebration in Downtown Guthrie (212 W Oklahoma) features a parade, Victorian Christmas celebrations, historic home tours and theater performances of “A Territorial Christmas Carol.” Free lighted Christmas parade at dusk on Nov 29. FREE Pop-Up Shops in Midtown (10th & Hudson) features 35 local shops set up with holiday goods and gifts in geodesic domes in Midtown. Accompanied by the Bishop John Carroll School Christmas Tree lot. Thursday-Saturday, 10am-9pm; Sunday, 10am-6pm.

Winter Shoppes at Myriad Gardens (301 W Reno) features boutique-style vendors set up among the beautiful holiday decorations in the gardens. 11am-6pm Nov 28-30, Dec  4-7, 11-14 and 18-23.

Edmond Holiday Ice Skating at Mitch Park (1501 W Covell Rd) offers ice skating, holiday music and food concessions. $10 for two-hour skate session and skate rental; $7 if you bring your own skates. $5 for ages 5 and under. Daily, noon-10pm. Exceptions: Christmas Day, noon-5pm and New Year’s Eve, noon-11pm. 274-1638,

FREE Deluxe Winter Market at Leadership Square (211 N Robinson) offers an opportunity for guests to do their holiday shopping at more than 40 vendor booths. Featuring local and handmade goods, crafts, home decor, art, food and other specialty items. Saturday & Sunday, 11am-6pm. 235-3500,
