Stain Removal Guide

Caution: Always test fabric for color fastness in an inconspicuous spot.

Blood:
If fresh, sponge with cool, salt water and rinse. If stain persist, apply hydrogen peroxide directly. Launder as usual.

Coffee & Tea:
Remove fresh stains from cotton and linen by rinsing in warm water then pour boiling water onto the stain. Wash in soapy water.

Fruit Juices & Berries:
Treat with cool water. Soak in 1 tbsp. white vinegar and 1/2 tsp. laundry detergent with 2 quarts warm water for 15 minutes. Rinse. For old stains, dampen stain apply glycerin, leave 1-2 hours, add a few drops of vinegar, leave 5-10 minutes, rinse.

Wine Stains:
Blot with club soda or cool water. Wash in cold water and ammonia.

Greasy & Fatty Stains:
Cover the stain with Dawn dish soap. Rub the dish soap in with your finger all over the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes and wash as usual.

Lipstick & Other Makeup:
Gently blot or rub the stain with a makeup wipe until the offending makeup stain is lifted away.

Grass:
Combine a half cup of white vinegar, one cup of water and one tablespoon of liquid dish soap in a bowl. Apply a small amount of the mixture over the affected area and scrub the grass stain using a toothbrush. Rinse the garment with warm water and let it air dry.

Ink:
Place a paper towel under the stain and sponge it with rubbing alcohol. Use an eyedropper to apply alcohol directly onto the stain or, for a larger spot, pour the alcohol into a small dish, immerse the stained area and soak for 15 minutes. The ink should begin to dissolve almost immediately.
