‘Move To Oklahoma’ Worthy Food
If you don’t love food as much as I do, you might not understand this but for gooood BBQ or donuts I’ll go just about anywhere- probably even move. Anyone from Oklahoma can tell you that it is one of those states that is just heavy laden with a bounty of mouth watering things to eat. Lucky for me, I don’t have to actually move states to get any of this decadence but I still have the enjoyment of a little road trip! To all my fellow Okies: if you haven’t tried one/all of these GIT ON IT, GIRL (or men folk) and if you’re not from the area, let me try to persuade you with this symphony of flavors to move to OK or at least come visit because you’re missing out!
For Your Sweet Tooth
Long day? Fabulous day? Breakup? Marriage? Just because! You don’t need a better reason or a reason at all to head to Holder Drug in Alva, OK for their famous Jack & Jill Sundae. This family owned pharmacy and shop has had its doors open since 1952 and has since continued to send out it’s Siren call of delicious, marshmallowy, and chocolaty goodness. Be sure to stop by and bury yourself in this masterpiece and have one for me too!
For Your Burger Tooth
I know I’ve got one of these… a burger tooth that is… that craving only a truly delicious burger paired with a glass bottle soda can satiate. Take yourself to either the Nichols Hills location or the one located on Lake Arcadia (sorry but that’s my fav one). Pile the kids into the car and take the scenic drive along the lake out to Pop’s by Arcadia and treat them to a soda and delicious burger! Just beware you might be there for a while choosing your soda as they have about 700 different kinds to choose from!
For Almost Everything Else
This one is for your history buff and for the fried chicken lover in your life. If you’re both of those things then this place is ESPECIALLY your scene. Take a detour out to Okarche, OK and visit Eischen’s Bar for an ice cold coke and the best fried chicken you’ve ever tasted. The fried okra and chicken rivals your mama’s recipe- I’m sorry, it’s just the truth… It’s REALLY good. And it should be! It’s been featured on several shows and has been honing in the recipe since 1896. You know it’s legit too because you have to seat yourself and they don’t take debit cards.
