There are a number of tasks to complete before your home hits the real estate market, like cleaning, staging, and contacting your realtor to schedule a listing appointment! In order to kick start this process, we offer the following suggestions that can even be done before your first appointment with The Red Team. Once these simple items are completed, you’ll be well-prepared to meet with our team to determine list price and list date!
1. Do a little bit of online research. Chances are if your home previously went through a real estate transaction, there will be information on sites like Zillow that may be inaccurate. This is the time to fix any errors because many buyers will view your home on sites other than the MLS. If Zillow has an estimated price lower than your list price, you can contest this and potentially get it changed.
2. Do a walk-through of your home. During this walk-through, make a list of obvious updates that need to be made before listing your home for sale. This can consist of touching up paint, pulling weeds, or power washing the exterior of your home. Make a plan to complete each items before your home is actually listed.
3. Make a list of repairs completed. Did you install canned lighting? Re-stain your deck? Add new hardware and paint to your kitchen cabinets? Replace the roof? All of these are pertinent pieces of information to provide to us during your listing appointment. We’ll be sure to highlight these improvements online so all potential buyers know what all is included in the home!
