Edmond Public Schools 2017 Bond Projects

Last week, I attended the Edmond Board of Realtors luncheon. Lunch is always followed by a speaker and this week Brett Towne, the superintendent of Edmond Public Schools spoke to us. He is excited about the new bond program to cover buildings, students and equipment. A couple specific areas the bond will cover are tornado shelters, updates to the schools and more space for students. After the tornadoes in Moore about 3 years ago, a 4 year bond plan was formulated to accommodate the growth of schools including students and teachers to make sure everyone is covered by tornado shelters in times when shelters are needed. The bond will also cover updating the three high schools to get them “in shape” before they start the new, fourth high school. Lastly, they want to add a new middle school gym to make adequate space for middle school events. Some schools will also benefit with new iPads, media centers, classrooms, a track, a football field, gymnasiums, parking and so much more! It will add a quarter million square feet of space to Edmond Schools! They have worked hard to pull it all together and get the word out! Please share this information! We want our Edmond Community to thrive!!!
