Did you know Earth day is celebrating its 46th birthday this year on April 22nd? Every year communities around the globe celebrate environmental awareness by recognizing the positive impact we can make on our planet by pitching in. Earth day is the largest secular observance in the world and is celebrated by more than one billion people every year as a day of taking action to do our part to change harmful behaviors that harm our planet.

There are fun events going on around the Edmond/OKC Metro in celebration of Earth Day.

Free Bus Rides Oklahoma City’s Embark transit system will offer free bus rides throughout the day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 22nd.

Celebration of Earth Day at the Botanical Gardens is hosting live music, global education, food and more! From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 22nd. Free admission.

Free Shred Day on April 23rd from 7 a.m. to noon, bring personal documents you would like to have shredded and recycled. Located at 5519 NW 4th.

Party for the Planet at the OKC Zoo will feature live music, giveaways, family activities and events in observance of Earth Day. All events are included with regular zoo admission from 11am-3pm on April 30th.

Earth Fest at Martin Park Nature Center the Martin Park Nature Center in NW Oklahoma City will celebrate with Earth Fest, a series of Earth-friendly educational seminars on alternative fuel cars and more. The event includes family-oriented games, crafts and other nature-based activities. From 1-4pm on April 30th.
