It’s Leap Day!
Happy Leap Day from The RED Team!
Today is a day that one happens every four years. This year there are 366 days, instead of the regular 365.
Julius Caesar introduced the first leap year in 46 B.C.. Any year divisible by four would be a leap year. This made too many leap years. The calendar wasn’t adjusted until Pope Gregory XIII made his gregorian calendar 1,500 years later. There is a leap year for every four years, unless they are divisible by 100 and not divisible by 400.
Women can propose to men today! It’s silly to think that women need to be allowed to propose in this day and age, but it’s an old celtic tradition. This custom was attributed to St. Bridget who apparently complained to St. Patrick about having to wait for a man to propose. So St. Patrick gave women one day that they can propose where the men cannot say no. This is actually the plot to the movie Leap Year with Amy Adams!
What do you think of the tradition? Will you be proposing to your signification other? Know anyone that has before?Let The RED Team know! We would love to hear from you.
